Baptism is an important ritual in the Christian Church when individuals are welcomed into the life and faith of the Church of Jesus Christ and commit themselves (in the context of family, friends and community) to a life of Christian Discipleship. Discipleship means is learning what it means to know and follow Jesus Christ in every aspect of life. The Methodist Church, after suitable preparation, baptises people of all ages. When we baptise an infant the focus is on God’s love, grace and acceptance of us, before we know anything of it. The child’s growth in faith is dependent on God and the Christian example and practice of parents / carers, godparents and congregation. An adult is making a conscious choice in baptism to celebrate this love and grace and accept for themselves the way of Christ. Their growth in faith is equally dependent on God but also needs daily expression and commitment in their own life pattern.

The Minister and Baptism Secretary will meet with those involved in a baptism in their home or at BBMC at least two times before the ceremony takes place (initial enquiry and formal preparation). The Minister reserves the right to seek further preparation when she/he considers it necessary.

Baptisms enquiries can be made by contacting our minister. There is no charge for a baptism (donations to the work of BBMC will be gratefully received).
