GUIDANCE ON OTHER SERVICES
A Funeral Service is the occasion when family, friends, colleagues and community gather to give thanks for the life of the deceased; offer worship to God; and, offer mutual support in loss. We offer a Christian approach to these occasions which means that we pray in the name of Jesus Chris; we read and hear Holy Scripture, that from the word of the Bible we might draw comfort and strength; we commend the deceased into God’s eternal love, justice and care; and, we offer the hope of life through the resurrected Christ.
The Minister will visit the family before and, often, after the Funeral. Funeral services may be held at BBMC and can include hymns and readings, music and poems chosen by the family and friends involved through conversation with the Minister. Services may be held either before or after burial or cremation.
Please make initial arrangements through your Funeral Director. The charges for Funeral Services at BBMC in 2008/9 are: Minister £96, Church £70, Organist £40, Steward £30, TOTAL £236. If the service is conducted at the Crematorium alone the only charge made is that for the Minister.
In genuine cases of need the Minister has access to BBMC’s Christian Action Fund and may be contacted.
Weddings are occasions of great celebration when two people commit themselves, in love, to each other for life. The Christian Church holds marriage in the highest regard and celebrates it in the presence of God, family and friends, colleagues and community. BBMC is registered for Weddings and our Minister is registered to conduct Marriage Services. Couples interested in getting married at BBMC would be wise to contact the Minister before making other wedding arrangements as dates cannot be expected to be free and available. In order to be married at BBMC couples must also obtain a licence to marry from their registrar. This must be done at least 15 days and nights before the wedding takes place (we recommend that you make an appointment with the registrar early in your planning).
We take a Christian approach to Wedding Services. This means that we include prayers in the name of Jesus Christ praising God, seeking forgiveness and asking for blessing on the couple; appropriate music, songs and hymns; suitable readings including at least one from the Bible; and, a short relevant talk. Whilst some aspects of the Wedding Service are legal and cannot be altered, the rest of the service is open to negotiation in conversation with the minister (it is your wedding after all). The Minister will visit you or meet with you at BBMC several times in preparation including a rehearsal before the big day. Weddings enquiries should be made to the Minister. Charges for weddings at BBMC in 2008/9 are: Minister £100, Church £100, Organist £60, Steward £40, audio Steward £20, TOTAL £320.
In genuine cases of need the Minister has access to BBMC’s Christian Action Fund and may be contacted.
